People-Driven | In his opening speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that
India's fight against COVID-19 is people-driven. "People of our country
are fighting this war with the administration. We are also fighting poverty. I
am proud that all of us are part of it. All of us are soldiers in this
fight," PM Modi says.

Be it in cities or a village, everywhere we can see people
getting involved in this fight against the pandemic. While some are feeding the
poor, some are making masks, others are selling their lands to raise money for
this fight. Some are even contributing their pensions. Our hardworking
farmers are also ensuring no one is hungry.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in Mann Ki Baat, lauds his
government's initiatives and says, "When people talk about this period,
they will talk about our people-driven initiatives. Our 'tali, thaali and diya'
initiatives have kept spirits high."

PM Modi Hails Farmers | Prime
Minister Narendra Modi goes on to heap praises on the farmers who are toiling
hard to meet food demands of the country at a time when there is a nationwide
lockdown in place. "Our farmers are working day and night in their fields
to ensure that no one goes hungry. There are people who are giving up rents and
there are people who are giving up their pension," PM Modi says in Mann Ki
Baat.

PM Modi Bows Down to People of India in Praise | "I bow and
respect the 130 crore people of this country for what they are doing during
this time. Every sector has been innovating during this period. Whether it is
people from Aviation or Railways, they are all working to make our lives
easier. They are working hard to deliver medicines and other essentials to all
parts of the country," PM Narendra Modi says during Mann Ki Baat.

10.Referring to the Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Ordinance 2020, which amends the
Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and provides for compensation for injury to
healthcare service personnel or for causing damage or loss to property, Prime
Minister Narendra Modi says, "Many health care workers have hailed the
latest ordinance brought in to protect them. This law was necessary to protect
our doctors and nurses."

"Our society has changed. We are realising new factors
everyday. We are finding new ways to appreciate people who have been helping
us. Many on social media are acknowledging the work being done by our
coronavirus warriors. Our perception about our police has also changed
significantly. This change in perception will play a huge role in future,"
Prime Minister Narendra Modi says during Mann Ki Baat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi asks Indians to fall back on
"ancient teachings" during the fight against coronavirus. "Over
the last few days India has taken many steps that have helped many countries.
During this period we do not need to help everyone but we chose to help our
friends. We have helped many countries with their medical needs. Many world
leaders have thanked the people of India for the help we have extended. People
around the world are falling back to Ayurveda and Yoga to fight COVID-19. We
need to be more confident about our old teachings. Our youth have to carry
forward these teachings," PM Modi says.

The people associated with medical services have expressed
satisfaction with the ordinance that provides stringent punishment for those
indulging in violence against corona warriors. It was critical to ensure the
safety of all doctors, nurses and paramedical staff.

PM Modi Says Wearing Masks Would be the New
Normal | Urging citizens to adapt to wearing masks as part of a new
way of life, Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, "We need to wear marks. It
has become a part of our daily lives. It has not happened before. But this is
the new reality. Our perception about masks will change very soon. We are
also realising that spitting has become hazardous. We have always been aware of
it but we never cared. But now we have to work to end this habit."

COVID-19 has led to many changes around us, the most
prominent among them is wearing a mask. Masks have become a part of life
due to coronavirus. It doesn't mean if someone wears a mask, they are
sick. Masks will become a symbol of a civilised society.

Another
awareness that has been created due to coronavirus is that spitting is a bad
habit and poses grave dangers for the health. It is "better late than
never", so people should give up the habit of spitting. This will
increase basic hygiene and strengthen the fight against COVID-19.

Modi Warns Against Negligence in Closing Speech | In his closing Mann Ki Baat speech, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi pushes for more vigilance from citizens and encourages people to
maintain social distancing. "We should not be overconfident. We should not
presume that COVID-19 will not enter our homes, offices and colonies. We have
to stay vigilant. We should ensure that we are never negligent. I appeal to you
again. 'Do gajj doori, haut hai Zaroori, (Two meter distance is of utmost
importance)," PM Modi says.
